A coffee stop in Austria obviously meant cake and apparently cappuccino comes with an extra dollop of cream.
Just as well the cycling burns off the calories...
The ride again crisscrossed the Austrian and Czech borders with ever present reminders of the brutal history.
The Trail of Freedom along the cycle path past Mikulov Castle tells the stories of people who tried to cross the Iron Curtain with a moving memorial to those who died - each post has a name and date on it.
Lunch was a picnic between the two countries with everyone trying to get out of the hot sun and drink as much liquid as possible.
The afternoon was all about castle visiting with the extra loop going to the 19th century Neo-Gothic Lednice Palace, a properly dramatic, show off, fairytale castle. I was sweatily swearing as we climbed yet another hill but it was so worth it.
Even the greenhouse was OTT..
Today’s bike stats don’t reflect the effort required to pedal in a hot head wind, but it was another fantastic day on a bicycle.
Dinner was in another castle and rather posh, if somewhat minimalist for a horde of hungry cyclists.
